It is now one of the most awaited events of the spring of Salento, a festival of European and Mediterranean culture, which every year spreads about 100 films including feature films, shorts and documentaries from many European countries, reserving a channel of privileged dialogue with young people artists.
Lecce is a very popular location for national and international productions, and for the occasion it welcomes directors, actors, producers and distributors, opening visitors and tourists the doors of theaters, museums and palaces with exhibitions, concerts and conferences on the cinema.
Great interest is the European Feature Film Competition, the “Golden Olive Tree” Competition, as well as the in-depth sections on characters that have marked the history of Italian and European cinema, created in collaboration with the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. The scheduled reviews also highlight the new audiovisual themes and languages.
After the success of the last edition that featured characters such as the English Stephen Frears, the Polish Agnieszka Holland and the Turkish Nuri Bilge Ceylan, the festival of Salento prepares to celebrate a great author, his cinema and his characters: Pedro Almodóvar.
Created by the Apulia Film Commission Foundation, the European Film Festival is conceived and organized by the Cultural Association “Art Promotion” with the support of the City of Lecce and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism-General Directorate of Cinema and it prays of the Patronage of the European Parliament, of the Experimental Center of Cinematography, of the SNGCI, of the FIPRESCI, of the SNCCI, of the National Center of the Short Film, of the Agiscuola.
